Poker Betting for Value

Betting for Value in Cash Games

Poker Cash Games

Poker Cash games are where the money is really at in Poker.

Yes Poker tournaments get the spotlights for their big star value and impressive numbers but if you want to make money consistently then there is no better place.

Ok, now the first thing you need to know about cash games as you don't use the same betting style as in Poker tournaments. Why would that be you ask?

Well cash games don't work like tournaments for starters. Tournaments have blinds that increase over rounds and bluffing is different too. The players also play differently for instance short stakes in tournaments play differently in cash games.

Ok the main difference in tournament poker you try your best to win every hand you go into. In cash games you try and extract maximum value out of each hand. Now I hear you saying what the hell are you talking about that's the same thing.

No it's not the same thing because in tournament poker your trying to protect your stake from errosion while the blinds go up but in cash poker your trying to win big hands that pay off losing a couple of hands chasing.

Don't you hate it when your playing all nice and friendly and then some asshole plays some miracle card and destroys you.

Ok this is because you probably weren't betting right. When you first start out playing poker you either go to aggressive or too passive. Basically your not betting on the value of your hand or your pot.

Sometimes it's great to bluff and be seen to be being an idiot because then you can take the opponents down when you hit the big hands but it's more about understanding the value which is so crucial.

So next time you play in a cash game think value, not just how your going to work your opponent out of his hand like in the tournaments.
