David Williams aka David Anthony Williams or "The Ferret".
David Williams is already a poker star with his success at the WSOP in 2004. His second place spot put him on the world poker map.
On the WPT David has also scored success at the Borgata Poker Open with another second place finish earning him $573,800.
David lives in Dallas, Texas, where he attends Southern Methodist University, maintaining a 4.0 average in Economics. He gave the Ivy League a shot, briefly studying at Princeton before homesickness brought him back home. David was already a well known card player before he took up poker in 1997, as one of the top ranked pros in the collectible card game “Magic: The Gathering.” He plans on moving to Los Angeles after completing his education, and hopes to find a career path he loves.
Hey this guy is already a star and will more than likely go on to playing in more high stakes poker events if you ask me. He’s also been quoted as saying that he doesn’t want to make poker a career because this for him is a hobby and doesn’t want to lose the enjoyment. If you ask me you can’t go wrong with $3.5 million dollars.
The fact of the matter is that David Williams is a young poker star with a geeky “Magic: The Gathering” background. “Magic: The Gathering” is a fantasy card game played by about 6 million people world wide. David’s nickname was the ferret back in his Magic days.
Magic: The gathering t is owned by Hasbro so it’s not into the gambling side of things. In fact I have quite a few friends who play this game and its tremendous fun. David Williams was a top flight magic player left his mark on this world with webpages dedicated to his “Magic:The Gathering” matches.
David made it to the world series of poker through online tournaments. David won his WSOP seat through PokerStars last year but I’m sure he’ll put up his own money this time if he isn’t sponsored already to compete.
