Doyle Bruson Poker Legend

Doyle “the Legend” Brunson otherwise fondly know as “Texas Dolly”. This poker player has been playing for over half a century and has pretty much done it all when it comes to poker.

Doyle Brunson was born in Longworth, Texas on August 10, 1933.  Doyle was a natural athlete at school. He was choosen as one of the five best basketball players in the state of Texas and he was also the best high school miler runner. Offers poured in from colleges and he decided on Hardin-Simmons. He could have also been a NBA’s Lakers star but he unfortunately snapped his knee in two places while he was working. This left him with more time to play poker and he took out his competitive edge on the game. He graduated from college with his Masters degree in Administrative Education. He gave the 9 to 5 job a try but this did not last long. Doyle Brunson is a natural gambler and is most famous side bet with a friend for $1 million that he could lose 100 pounds. He won that bet.

Doyle Brunson was married in 1962 to his wife, Louise. They have four children. Doyle currently lives in Las Vegas. Doyle Brunson also owns a home on Flathead Lake in Montana.

Doyle's made a pile of cash with his book super-system. This poker book is considered to the Bible of poker. There are sections on a variety of games written by the top players of that time. He has another book “According to Doyle”, which is a collection of some of the columns that he wrote for the old Gambling Times Magazine. Doyles writings sometimes say that all gamblers had an obligation to conduct themselves honorably. Doyle is a true hero and someone to look up to in the poker world. He also opened his own poker room, Doyle's Room.

Doyles list of accomplishments are awe inspiring. They include a final table at the first WSOP, and in 2004 he was one of part of the three inductees into the Poker Walk of Fame. The other two award winners include Gus Hansen and James Garner.

In these back to back titles Doyle won both titles with the exact same poker hand, (tens full of deuces) full house giving the Holdem hand T2 the nickname: "Doyle Brunson".

Doyle Brunson is the first true poker legend.
