Gus Hansen Pure Genius or Just Mad
Gus Hansen is already a legend in the world of poker tournaments. Gus is from Denmark originally and was a ranked backgammon player. His real name is Gustav Hansen and but most people just call him Gus for short. Gus is a master of No-Limit holdem and his poker play is a bit erratic at times and people are known and he has been known to play cards that most people wouldn’t touch with a barge pole. The tour has seen us playing impossible cards and term “having a Gus” is known for playing off suited small cards.
Spectators love watching Gus for the fact that he is so erratic and talented. He often is accused of being lucky but he has tremendous guile and intelligence. During the first season Gus Hansen made the final tables at the Bellagio Casino and Commerce Casino. He also won the Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure and the Bad Boys of Poker WPT event. Gus is the master of playing the players and the cards second. He is very aggressive with his cards and is difficult to read with his outrageous style.
Gus started playing poker in Santa Cruz California and is originally from Copenhagen. Gus doesn’t travel the poker circuit but will play in the larger poker events. Gus plays a lot of hands in tournaments and always seems to play them perfectly. While Gus doesn’t play in a lot of the circuit tournaments he is still regarded as one of the best players around and was recently inducted into the World Poker tour Walk of Fame with Doyle Brunson and James Garner.
Gus is humble about his ability and likes to say that someone has to win, it just so happens he wins more than he losses. Gus recently won the second season Bellagio Casino event. Gus Hansen has won $1,830,876 on tour so far in his career and in the second season $767,206. Gus does very well at the Bellagio and beware when you play him at this venue or at any times. Gus has won three WPT titles so far and you can be sure there are more to come.
