Short Handed Poker Styles.
Ok you've all seen it on ESPN a big stack pushes around a little stack. Right so that's what we all want to do right? So what do you do when you get yourself into a short handed texas holdem no limit poker tournament.
Well it's a good feeling winning with a big bluff. How about winning with just a small bluff, wouldn't that be even better. These are the tactics you need to learn when you play short handed online poker tournaments.
That's all it takes some times it's about sizing up the situation your stack versus theirs and making a small bet that will bring instant folding. A small bet in some ways can be more dangerous than a big bet due to the slow playing nature of the bet.
Bluffing and playing aggressive poker need to be done in a way that is difficult to read. You need to understand your opponents situation better than you understand your own cards when you bluff.
An example of this would be if your opponent is short stacked he's probably going to either fold or go all in. In this case it's important to know how close you are to the money, if your opponent will only play very good hands then you can get away with forcing small bets to pick up the blinds, while waiting for your good hands to call him in a all in situation.
The art of the bluff is made even more difficult when you consider position. Sometimes you'll obviously be raising after the flop to see if there are any takers or if you can get away with a hand. Once you have realised an opponent may be on to you. Check raise him just to see if he's going to try to take the gap.
Poker is such a mind game. You need a strategy and that's when all these little inside tricks come into play.
