WSOP Champs From Down Under
Here's the Pokernex take on Joseph Hachem.
Joseph Hachem is the Australian who won the biggest poker tournament of 2005. I say this because next year the WSOP is sure to be even bigger.
Joseph is a native of Lebanon, who immigrated to Melbourne, (Australia) 1972 moved with his family. Joseph Hachem is a happily married man with four children. He studied to be a chiropractor by trade, but had to give up his profession after a developing a rare blood disorder in his hands. During this time while Joseph was taking time off to consider his future, Joe hachem began to play poker.
Joseph Hachem says, "I started in casinos, but in the past two years, I've been playing online a lot." When he isn't playing online or at the Crown Casino, he runs a small broking business in Pascoe Vale.
While 2005 marked Joe Hachem's first World Series of Poker, he is a professional poker player who has been playing poker for 10 years. While there have been other non-Americans winning the World Series of Poker Main Event, Joseph Hachem is the first Australian to have won the World Series of Poker.
